Dame Du Show Productions: Lipstick Jungle Review
The 1st of December and the start towards the festive Christmas period kicked off with a bang and in true Dame Du Show fashion, things were rather wild in the jungle dare we say!
Dame Du Show Productions celebrated their 3rd Anniversary amidst a plethora of faces which included some animals, regulars, new attendees and notable known DJs. In the usual manner that has become a signature of theirs; they held a themed night called Lipstick Jungle. Now people before one proceeds with the lowdown of the night, let’s just say the theme alone threw a spanner in the works and had the massive wondering what the ladies had laid in store for us and what undergrowth and animals one was going to have to forage thru and bump into on the night. To cut the long story short, Dame Du Show Productions laid our fears to rest and brought out the animalistic behaviour that dwells within us and it was a night to remember.

The Vibes: Like WHOA! Simply put, simply said. The night had pace, from the minute your foot hit the pavement and the walk past the courtyard towards the entrance door, you could feel the vibes that had spilled out and were lingering in the atmosphere, inviting people in. Dame Du Show events always have vibes and whilst the second room was closed off due to low numbers, this did not put a gloom in the spirit, but in fact served to turn the heat up. It was on……
The Music: From Drake, to Vybz Kartel, the crowd were passed through Trinidad for some soca, flew to the States for some Rhythm & Blues and some, then headed back to the Caribbean for some heat and more soca. The DJs were on point last night and whilst this was not your regular soca fuelled playlist night, it had the makings of musical genres picked ‘n’ mixed to perfection with the latest chart topping hits and exclusive songs that would only be heard by true music lovers. DJ Spice had the crowd in a tizzy, Dame Du Show’s finest, DJ Cinderella had us behaving like animals in the jungle, DJ Jairo, DJ Al Twizt, DJ Britjam Face and Sir DJ Corey had the crowds on lockdown and kept the pace and momentum moving swiftly.
The Crowd: Ok, so the turnout was lower than expected, however one would blame this on 1) the cold weather and 2) event cannibalisation that happened on the same night. Despite the low turnout, the supporters and loyal, unique following did turn up with some new faces and had come prepared to party and celebrate the 3rd Anniversary in style. As usual to the crowd, big up on both fronts, representing the styles stakes and retaining the true party vibes. It was nice.
All-in-all: Again another epic night and Dame Du Show Productions continue to set the pace and trend. This was their last event of the year and already before celebrating the biggest party of the year which is Christmas, we are already anticipating their next 2013 event.
To anyone that has not been to a Dame Du Show event, Seriously where have you been? Look out for 2013 which undoubtedly is going to be another epic year for the ladies.
