Spring Bling Review – 23rd March 2012
Spring Bling brought a lot of unseen faces to the soca scene. The concept of Old Soca Vs Old Dub offered something new. A refreshing change from hearing up-front soca all the time.
Spring Bling was well attended, comfortably filling the Euphorium. The crowd was a friendly bunch who created a family vibe.
This shows to me that the Bajan Revellers (promoters of the event) know their crowd and they know how to entertain them.

The Venue: The Euphorium needs a better lighting set-up. It is too dark in there. However the sound system is decent enough to pull out the deep basslines and clear mids which we all love.
The Music: DJ Bliss was the stand out DJ on the night. He juggled a good selection of the classics in both soca and dub. He had the crowd eating out of his hands.
The Vibe: It wasn’t as ‘wild and wassi’ as some of the fetes we have been to. This is due to the older age group of attendees. Obviously if the music being played is old school the crowd it is going to attract will be older. The vibe was a mello-hype and suited the occasion.
Overall: It was a good night. An event that wasn’t scared to offer something different. We look forward to many more Spring Blings to come.
Lyrikal from Trinidad and Tobago was amongst the revelers as was DJ Stephen from Atlanta. We managed to get a quick interview with both of them which we will be showing to you shortly.
